In plain English, what do you do: We build spacecraft, I tell ‘em what to make it out of.
Real-life MLB team you are a fan of: Colorado Rockies, season-ticket holder since game 1 in 1993.
Years in the I-75 League: 30
Years playing Strat: 31
How you first were introduced to Strat: Big Brother Dave bought me the board game for Christmas in 1979. Then Mr. Phil and Dr. Gridlock broke me in with a “Crusty Oldtimers” league.
How you became part of the I-75 League: Charter member, invited in by Big Brother Dave, a.k.a. The Czar
Origin of your team name: Superior is my current hometown, Titan is a “Monster Slugathon” board game that our family wastes spends a lot of quality time together playing.
Any Strat involvement outside the I-75 League? Nope, this is plenty for my baseball fix.
Fondest I-75 League memory (related to Strat competition): Shaky Jake Peavy steamrolling through the 2008 playoffs, nearly unhittable. Bumped off some tough competition in the Isotopes and Gophers to make it to the WS vs. the Demo Dogs and that epic game 6 loss (see Ken’s description). Either that or travelling to visit Steve and Nancy Hart in Indianapolis in 1981, playing an entire 10 game series face-to-face while young David (age 1) entertained himself by learning how to scream!
Fondest I-75 League convention moment: 1. Vero Beach one year back in the 90’s, sitting in row 1 prattling all game with the pitchers in the Dodgers bullpen, without ever making eye contact. 2. Stuffed Joe Brunetti avatar at the Knoxville Draft in 1981, complete with a shaving cream face and Dick Ruthven card in his shirt pocket.
Favorite I-75 League tradition: Annual Convention. .. Best Ever!TM
Trade or draft pick you made that you wish you could have back: See everybody else’s best trades…
Trade or draft pick you made in which you think you hit a homer: PEDRO! For FREE!
One thing you would do to improve the league: Now that we got a kick-butt website, just keep the league going for another 30 years.
How to follow you: Website, Blog, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter… Facebook (infrequently)
Your chance to self-promote: At work, I’m part of a team currently building the mirrors for the James Webb Space Telescope, to be launched in 2014, which will replace the Hubble Space Telescope. Its nickname is the First Light Machine, since it is expected to be able to capture images of objects formed in the time just after the Big Bang, when the universe began. COSMIC!

I like your birthdate — February 1962. No one is quite sure of the day, just of the month…
Ahhh … those Crusty Old-Timers.
Never dreamed I might actually turn into one.
